This July, PRMA Plastic Surgery will team with HELPS International to serve individuals in need in the rural mountains of Guatemala. HELPS International has developed a system of volunteer medical teams to address the healthcare crisis of Latin America. The medical teams are comprised of around 100 physicians, surgeons, nurses, and support staff.
Dr. Oscar Ochoa will be traveling with a medical team from San Antonio (referred to as the SAGE group) to provide medical care and surgical services to the community and will share his experiences with us all upon his return.
Over the past 11 years, SAGE has participated in numerous service trips to Guatemala! In this area of the world, many never have the opportunity to receive medical care due to the sever poverty and lack of medical facilities in their area.
“This opportunity is a great chance to serve those who are truly underprivileged,” said Dr. Ochoa while reflecting on his upcoming mission.
